Friends Like Us: Bea

A TV dance competition has come to town. Bea loves dancing but can she overcome her shyness in time to enter? It wouldn’t be so bad if her best friend hadn’t ditched her to join a dance group formed by their school’s ultimate Mean Girl, Pearl.

When Bea’s nan arranges for her to learn to jive, Bea is surprised to find she loves it. And even more shocked to discover that she might feel the same way about her new dance partner Ollie. BUT he’s supposed to be going out with Pearl … Now Bea’s fighting for more than just a place in the competition final.

One of four connected books about best friends – don’t miss the rest of the Friends Like Us series: BettyKat and Pearl.

  1. OMG! Just fin reading this book… COOL! I would adore to have Ollie ‘The Hug’ Matthews dance jive with me any day! I know from my own experience… someone like PEARL HARRIS is not the kind of girl you wanna be BFF’S with… Someone like that would be bitchy enough to be that idiotish that I just can’t think about a girl at my uni like that… UHHHH!

      1. Hi Ellie – I’m so pleased you like Flirty Dancing! Guilty secret: I’m actually going to read it again myself at Christmas. I love Ollie & Bea!! The second book, LOVE BOMB is about Betty: it opens on her 15th birthday. Every birthday she gets a letter from her mum who died when Betty was two, but this year Betty doesn’t want to read the letter, maybe because it’s the last one. Then lots of things happen: Betty meets a new boy, Toby (who is a v good looking, but a bit scary), upsets all her friends and joins a band…Bea, Ollie, Emma, Kat and Pearl are all in it. I really hope you read it because it’s probably my favourite book that I’ve written! xx Jen

  2. Hi jenny! Your book is amazing, I would take Ollie over “The Pink Ladies” any day! Absolutly loved it and read it far too quick! Was wondering what the second book to flirty dancing is called, I would love to buy it and cant wait to find out what happens next! Xx

    1. Hey Emma! Thank you so much. I’m a pretty big Ollie fan too. The second book is called Love Bomb and Bea and Ollie make an appearance in it (along with Emma) but mainly it’s Betty’s story. There’s lots of singing, windsurfing, jokes and doughnuts too! I really hope you read it. xxJenny

  3. Oh my goodness! I love your book so much I actually couldn’t put it down after I read it! It was so good!!! Do you think you’ll be doing a second book!
PS. If you are I seriously can’t wait!!!!!!

    1. Hi Alexia Thank you so much!! What a lovely message to get on a rainy Friday night. I’m very pleased that you enjoyed Flirty Dancing. I loved writing it! There are three more books in the series: Love Bomb (Betty’s story), Sunkissed (Kat’s story) and Star Struck will be published soon. I really hope you read them. Bea is in all of them. I’ve been writing a new book this evening all about a girl who is obsessed with the cosmos. Hope you are having a good weekend. xx Jen

  4. As a teenager, I have experienced many people like Pearl, Kat, and betty, but i most relate to bea. this book makes me think of all the possibilities out there for me. Im so embedded into the ladybirds series and i can’t wait to read more about these girls.( mostly about how cute of a couple ollie and bea are) just want to say again that i truly loved this book, all the twist and mixed emotions were so engaging.

    1. Hi Nicole, I’m so happy that you like Flirty Dancing and can relate to Bea – I definitely channeled my own memories of being a teenager into this book, and I often felt exactly like Bea. I wonder if you’ve read Stargazing for Beginners or Truly Wildly Deeply? They aren’t in the Ladybird series, but they are funny, moving books about being a teenager. I think you might like them. Also the Ladybird books are getting brand new covers and titles soon. Thank you for getting in touch! xx Jenny
